We were thrilled when a gastronomist pair came to us looking for an unrestrained landscape where their kids could grow up as free-range children. They dreamed of a garden the children could graze their way through, filled with fruit and citrus trees, berries, herbs and vegetables. We designed the landscape around this agrarian vision, filling every corner with edible foods, herbs and aromatics. The raised beds where built on a Monday in mid-construction, and our clients had them planted by Wednesday. The family was harvesting by the time construction was complete. The outdoor cooking area is right off the kitchen, so we focused on creating the client’s perfect grilling space instead of creating a full outdoor kitchen. It’s a comfortable, welcoming and gracious place, just perfect for a family living and growing up close to the earth.
